Prompting and AGENTS.md don’t scale as agentic systems grow in complexity. We need a shared layer agents can anchor to and validate against. I’ll introduce a new research system I’m developing that makes entities, interactions, constraints, and tests globally referenceable. From there, we’ll imagine AGI has already happened and examine how engineering shifts when specs guide autonomous systems.

Yury Selivanov is a Director of Engineering at Vercel, working to build the best Python cloud. Yury has been a Python core developer since 2013: added async/await, async generators, context variables, exception groups, and many other improvements, as well as authoring many PEPs. He is the creator of uvloop & asyncpg, two popular and wide-spread Python libraries, and the co-founder of Gel, a graph-relational database company.
