Soumya Kalra

Soumya Kalra is the Chief Data Officer for the City and County of San Francisco. A builder at heart with a distinct bias for action, Soumya has spent over 15 years leading high-stakes data initiatives that bridge the gap between complex infrastructure and real-world impact. At DataSF, she is focused on solving the city’s most pressing challenges by modernizing data strategy and empowering departments with actionable, high-velocity analytics.
Before her appointment to the City, Soumya built and scaled data infrastructure within the fintech sector at Robinhood and Early Warning Services (Zelle). Her career also includes deep technical leadership at the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Treasury, where she turned raw data into critical financial oversight tools. Soumya holds a Master’s in Mathematical Finance and a Bachelor’s in Economics from Rutgers University and has served as adjunct faculty at Columbia University.
