Jay Hack has been building with AI since high school, when he left science class to work in a research lab at the University of Michigan. He went on to Stanford, where he studied AI and conducted multimodal deep learning research, and has been a working practitioner in the field ever since. Most recently, he founded Codegen, an early coding agent startup acquired by ClickUp in 2025. He now serves as Head of AI at ClickUp, a $4B work platform, where he focuses on how agents operate across complex enterprise workflows.
